Redmi 9 Prime to Launch on August 4: Launch, Specifications and Review

Redmi 9 Prime will be sold via Amazon India and mi.com in the country.

Redmi 9 Prime is coming, and the smartphone will be unveiled on August 4 as Xiaomi’s latest budget smartphone. Given Amazon is touting its launch as one of the Prime Day launches, the phone is pretty much confirmed to go on sale during the Prime Day sale event on August 6-7. Although Xiaomi has begun teasing the phone, the company hasn’t shared much information about the phone. So, here’s what we have been able to piece together from various official teasers as well as the speculation around the phone.

Redmi 9 Prime launch date, time, live stream, sale details
Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime, as mentioned earlier, is going to launch in India on August 4. The launch event will kick off at 12pm (noon) and will likely be streamed on the company’s all social media accounts, including YouTube, and its official website. The Redmi 9 Prime will be sold via Amazon, mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Mi partner retailers in the country. There is no word on the price right now.

Redmi 9 Prime specifications (expected)
So, we don’t know all confirmed specifications of Redmi 9 Prime at this point. Rumours indicate that Redmi 9 Prime is just a rebranded version of Redmi 9 global variant that made its debut in June this year. Given Xiaomi’s previous history rebranding stuff, Redmi 9 global variant being Redmi 9 Prime seems very plausible. Also, the one Redmi 9 Prime specification that Xiaomi has teased until now matches perfectly with Redmi 9 global variant. Xiaomi India boss Manu Kumar Jain on July 31 teased that Redmi 9 Prime will come with a full-HD+ display, something that is also present in Redmi 9 global variant specifications.

If Redmi 9 Prime indeed turns out to be Redmi 9, here’s what you can expect to see: MediaTek Helio G80 SoC, paired with up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of onboard storage. Additionally, the Redmi 9 comes with 6.53-inch display, 5020mAh battery, USB Type-C port, and dual-SIM (Nano) support.

There is a quad camera setup on the back as well that houses a 13-megapixel main shooter, an 8-megapixel secondary ultra-wide-angle shooter, a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera.

Other specifications of the Redmi 9 include a rear fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm audio jack, IR blaster, and a large 0.7CC speaker box.

Realme Buds 3 and Realme Laptop planned to launch in India in August

Realme Buds 3 To Launch In India Soon

Realme Buds 3 are set to launch as early as this month, revealed the company’s India CEO Madhav Sheth in the latest episode of his video session AskMadhav on YouTube. The new wired earbuds by the company will be the successor to the Realme Buds that were launched last year. The executive also hinted at the company’s plans towards bringing Realme laptops – a move similar to Huawei sub-brand Honor and Xiaomi. Realme is also in plans to expand its footprint in the wearables market and bring a high-end smartwatch and active noise cancellation (ANC) supported earbuds, Sheth said.

In the little over 12-minute video session, Sheth provided some details around Realme’s roadmap for the Indian market. The executive mentioned that the Realme Buds 3 would debut “in a different style” and will be “unique” in its series. However, it is unclear whether the new wired earbuds would be available at an affordable price as its predecessor that were launched in August last year at a price tag of Rs. 599.

Apart from the Realme Buds 3, Sheth stated in the video that Realme is “considering the option” to launch its laptops in India. Realme competitors Honor and Xiaomi have already forayed into the laptops market, with the former hosting the launch of its first laptop model called MagicBook 15 just earlier this week. Sheth also spoke about new 5G phones by the company — without providing any concrete details, though.

“We’ll definitely bring a range of 5G smartphones much before the network is ready here in India,” he said.

Sheth also revealed Realme’s plans to bring a new smartwatch that would include significant upgrades over the existing Realme Watch. It is touted to be a high-end smartwatch.

Incidentally, Realme sibling Oppo launched the Oppo Watch with an Apple Watch-like design on Friday. The smartwatch comes with real-time heart rate monitoring and runs on Google’s WearOS.

Apart from its new smartwatch development, Sheth hinted at a new Realme Buds model that would come with ANC support. “We’re focussing on active noise cancellation, which will be the industry’s leading ANC technology,” the executive said. However, there are no details around when and at which price the new model would debut in the Indian market.

Ubisoft Announces Staff Departures After Misconduct Allegations

French video games group Ubisoft announced several staff departures on Saturday after conducting a review in response to allegations of misconduct at the company, which earlier reports said centered around sexual misconduct charges.

The changes were initiated to improve “workplace culture”, the company said.

The group’s chief creative officer, managing director of its Canadian studios and global head of human resources have resigned from their positions, effective immediately, the company said.

“Departures come following the initiation of a rigorous review that the Company initiated in response to recent allegations and accusations of misconduct and inappropriate behaviour,” the company said in a statement.

Ubisoft said last month it was investigating allegations of misconduct at the company with the support of specialised external consultants.

According to media reports, Ubisoft earlier this week confirmed the departure of its vice president, Maxime Béland, following assault allegations.

According to a Bloomberg report, two high-ranking Ubisoft executives were put on leave last month following allegations of misconduct.

The video game industry was caught up in the #MeToo movement in June after women spoke about abuse on Twitter. A Medium post with compiled allegations was also circulated.

Hackers Stole $6 Million in Cyber Attack on SWIFT System: Russian Central Bank

In December, hackers tried to steal 55 million roubles from Russian state bank Globex using the SWIFT system, and digital thieves made off with $81 million from Bangladesh Bank in February 2016.

Unknown hackers stole 339.5 million roubles ($6 million) in an attack on the SWIFT international payments messaging system in Russia last year, the Russian central bank said on Friday. The disclosure, buried at the bottom of a central bank report on digital thefts at Russian banks, is the latest in a string of attempted and successful cyber heists using fraudulent wire-transfer requests.

The central bank said it had been sent information about “one successful attack on the workplace of a SWIFT system operator. “The volume of unsanctioned operations as a result of this attack amounted to 339.5 million roubles,” the bank said.

The central bank declined to provide further details. A spokeswoman for SWIFT, whose messaging system is used to transfer trillions of dollars each day, said the company does not comment on specific entities.

“When a case of potential fraud is reported to us, we offer our assistance to the affected user to help secure its environment,” said the spokeswoman, Natasha de Teran.

AMD rallies as cryptocurrency miners snap up graphics chips

Shares of Advanced Micro Devices surged nearly 9 percent on Tuesday boosted by strong demand for its chips from cryptocurrency miners, leaving short sellers at a loss for the year.

A rally in cryptocurrency Ethereum has boosted demand for graphics chips used by people to “mine” it and other digital currencies, with some of AMD’s processors sold out on Amazon.com and other retail websites.

Mining for cryptocurrency involves using networks of computers to validate transactions and prevent counterfeit by solving complex mathematical problems. New currency is generated as a reward to the computer operators.

The emergence of Bitcoin in 2009 made cryptocurrency mining popular. Recent rallies in the price of Bitcoin and newer digital currency Ethereum have rekindled interest.

Ethereum miners spending as little as $2,000 to build mining computers using graphics processing units, or GPUs, from AMD or its rival Nvidia could break even within three or four months, estimated RBC analyst Mitch Steves in a note to clients on Tuesday.

“We think economics suggests that GPUs continue to be sold out,” Steves wrote. “We think GPU demand will remain robust as long as the return is under (about) one year.”

As of Monday, AMD short sellers had been up about $15 million for 2017. But Tuesday’s share surge left them at a loss of $125 million on paper for the year, according to S3 Partners, a financial analytics firm.

That follows losses of over $700 million for AMD short sellers last year, when the stock tripled.

The stock last traded up 7.3 percent at $12.06.

“There are going to be a lot of traders saying, ‘This is the last straw. I’m out,'” said Ihor Dusaniwsky, S3’s managing director of research.

AMD spokesman Drew Prairie acknowledged that interest from cryptocurrency miners was contributing to demand for the company’s chips, but he stressed that game enthusiasts are the core market.

JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft Corp, Intel Corp and more than two dozen other companies have teamed up to develop standards to make it easier for enterprises to use technology related to Ethereum.

Adding to support for AMD’s stock, Apple on Monday refreshed its lineup of Mac personal computers, including upgraded graphics chips from AMD.

Intel “i9 Core X” processors out specs and price

As you all know Intel “i9 Core X” processors are introduced by intel in market in june 2017

Skylake is the codename for Intel’s sixth-generation range of Core laptop and desktop PC processors. They’ve already been superseded by the seventh-gen CPUs and you can find out how Skylake compares with Kaby Lake.

But Skylake isn’t dead yet. No. Intel has launched Skylake X CPUs, which are the high-end enthusiast versions.

Interestingly, Intel isn’t using the Core i7 branding as it has done in previous years but add a new number: 9. The Core i9 range could be in response to AMD’s Ryzen processors, which were named to seem similar to Intel’s Core i5 and i7 ranges.

Rather than cut profit margins and compete on price, Intel might be trying to position the new chips as ‘better than Ryzen 7’ by using a higher number.

AMD, of course, has already announced its Threadripper range, which is expected to be branded Ryzen 9. Intel has trumped AMD’s 32-core flagship chip with the 36-core i9-7980XE monster, but AMD could be keeping a similar chip under wraps for now.

Pricing will be key, though, and the $1999 i9-7980XE will hit any wallet hard.

Dark Web vs Deep Web

The “dark web” is the encrypted network that exists between Tor servers and their clients, whereas the “deep web” is simply the content of databases and other web services that for one reason or another cannot be indexed by conventional search engines.

Apple Iphone 8 will not support High Speed Internet

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8CwIB8I0WcAIAQtW(also likely to be called ‘iPhone Edition’) has been a hot topic in the tech industry ever since last year, gaining even more popularity in the past few months due to rumours of having features like a bezel-less display and a fingerprint sensor embedded under the screen. But if a new report from Bloomberg website is to be believed, the smartphone may not be as advanced as its Android rivals, at least when it comes to high-speed internet connectivity.

The report says that iPhone 8 (as well as iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, which are expected to launch later this year as well) won’t be supporting high-speed internet or Gigabit LTE. Some US-based carriers and smartphone manufacturers have already confirmed that their future networks and devices will have Gigabit LTE support, but it seems like Apple’s trio will miss out on high-speed internet.
